I wish that those in charge of medical science would make a decision and stick with it. For years they have been informing the public to stay out of the sun. The sun is bad for you. They have now realized they were wrong. Because of this information they have given over the past10 to 15 years there has been an increase of many diseases, including heart disease and cancer.

Over the last year there have been over 100’s of articles and studies showing how important the sun and vitamin D are for our health.

When we expose ourselves to the sun, the result is we produce vitamin D. Current research shows that this vitamin is more important to our health than medical experts first thought. (DUH! All vitamins, minerals and enzymes are more important than medical experts think.) Scientist in the medical field are now using sun exposure not only for preventative measures for cancer, but also for post cancer treatment. They have found the patients with higher levels of vitamin D were less likely to develop other types of cancer.

Another study just released showed that the lack of exposure to the sun is also linked to chronic musculoskeletal pain. Little diseases such as fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, and migraine headaches. It’s also linked to chronic fatigue syndrome and seasonal affective disorder. They have discovered that vitamin D can help patients with chronic pain and fatigue syndromes, even when they did not respond to other treatments.

Spending a little time relaxing in the sunshine helps us mentally as well. It lowers our stress levels while lifting our mood.

I’m not talking about going out in the sun and roasting yourself like a Thanksgiving turkey. Just a small 15 minutes a day is all you need. Remember, there is a such thing as getting too much of a good thing.

  2. Like anything in life, I believe moderation in the sun is key. It is a great natural way to get vitamin D, however you can still get vitamin D from other sources including taking a multivitamin. Just be sure to limit your exposure to direct sunlight and wear sunscreen.

  3. Sun helps release or synthesize vitamin D which is already present in our body, in the first place. Too much sun can be bad for our skin as well, one alternative for this is to eat foods rich in this vitamin.
