Dehydration is a growing problem is our nation.  When someone feels thirsty, instead of reaching for soothing water, more than likely they reach for soda, coffee, or an energy drink.  All of these aredirectics which drain our bodies of even more fluid.

I admit, I am a coffee drinker.  I drink large amounts of coffee no matter the season.  Did you know to replace the fluids lost by drinking coffee, I have to drink 4 glasses of water for each cup of coffee?  For me, that’s a lot of water.

Our bodies give us subtle signs of dehydration.  First is thirst.  That’s really a no brainer, that we don’t listen to.  Next comes dry lips.  Our lips dry out, we try lip balms and a very other creative things to try to moisten them, but nothing works.  Next is dry skin.  We all hate the ashiness of dry skin so we apply lotions.  Still the dryness continues.

After this our bodies start getting a little more serious with it’s hints.  We start having little medical issues like headaches, constipation, blurry eyesight or spider lines in our vision, and brain fogs.  Still we do not pick up a glass of water.

Our bodies are made mostly from water.  It makes sense to replace the water to keep our bodies running smoothly.

  1. I think most people do not realize that all the beverages you listed above to in fact only make your thirst worse. It seems like most of society has gotten away from water being their primary drink. You need I believe at least 8 glasses a day to stay properly hydrated and healthy. Plus the lack of calories in water can’t hurt either.
