It’s that time of year. The New Years resolutions have been made. I know many of us have made the resolutions to eat healthier, lose weight and exercise.

You know the problem with those 3 resolutions and why it’s so hard to keep them longer than a couple weeks?

People have the habit of jumping in full steam and then wanting to see instant results. Guess what? It ain’t happening.

If you want to keep your resolutions, you need to change the way you are looking at them. Don’t go all out on this big exercise kick, doing lots of reps that your body isn’t used to. All you’re going to do is cause yourself a lot of pain for the following day, making sure you don’t want to repeat it.

As with anything in life, you need to start small and work your way up to your full potential. Start with a 15 minute exercise routine. Work this 15 minutes, 3 days a week for 2, maybe 3 weeks. Your body will then adjust to this new thing you’re doing to it and want more. Next up your time limit to 20 to 25 minutes, 3 times a week for another couple of weeks. It’s a slow build, but it isn’t a shock to you or your body.

Another one is eating healthier. We run out and buy all the good stuff, and shock our wallets. Again take it slow. As you run out of supplies in your kitchen, replace it with the organic counterpart. Your bank account will thank you for it, as will your body. I’ve had people tell me it’s too expensive to buy everything organic with such big eaters in the home. As most do not understand, right now, we overeat because our bodies are searching hard trying to find the nutrients in it’s food supply. The nutrients aren’t there because of the soil being over worked and the chemicals killing off anything good in the food. Once you go organic, your body starts receiving these wonderful nutrients that your body craves. Once your body gets it’s nutrients, you will eat far less, with no cravings. So after you adjust to the organic diet, your grocery bill will not be as expensive as it is now.

Added benefit to both eating healthier and exercise…..weight loss! Those 3 just go hand in hand.

Remember take it slow, make baby steps in both the exercise and the change over to organic foods. You will be more likely to keep those New Years resolutions and succeed at them through out the entire year.

Lately I’ve been asked why do a detoxification or a body cleanse? The answer is simple. You need to do a detoxification to remove the toxins that you are exposed to on a daily basis.

Our body do have their own detoxification system, but it was not designed to combat the toxins that we now encounter. Because of this, we get a build up of toxins that starting breaking down our bodies.

I want you to imagine the plumbing in a house. In a new house, the pipes are completely clear, and everything runs through them smoothly. Years go by, you never have a plumbing problem. A few more years, your plumbing is still working good, just the draining is a little slow. A few more years, the drain is running really slow. You don’t understand why, you call a plumber in to take a look. The plumber tells you that you have a build up from years normal use, that the pipes need to be power flushed clean.

Our system works the same way. We get a build up from normal use, it’s just our normal use is toxic because of our environment. If our systems aren’t cleansed, we don’t call a plumber. We call a doctor, because our build up has caused illnesses to develop.

Don’t you want to start the New Year with a New You?

Everyone knows about toxins in the air. Even a small child knows about air pollution when he sees a factory smoke stack. What about the other toxins in the environment that we are faced with everyday, and what effects do they have on our bodies?

There are over 85,000 different chemicals in our environment, and no matter how hard we try not to be, we are exposed to a mininum of 1000 of these daily. There are chemicals in our offices, our homes, the air that we breath, and the food that we eat. How do you overcome the toxic ambush?

Our bodies have their own detoxification system. It will filter out the bad stuff while keeping the good to nourish our bodies. It seems though with the toxic overload that we are bombed with daily that our bodies are overworked and can not do their jobs. Since it’s not able to do the job it’s suppose to, illnesses develop. What can you do to help your body do it’s job at detoxifying the toxins that have invaded?

You can eat better. Eat organic fruits, veggies, and meats. Drink lots of water to help flush toxins from your body. Take a water based, plant collide vitamin, mineral and enzyme supplement. Doing these simple task can help ease the work load on your body and give it the nutrients it needs to assist your own built in detoxification system work better.

The New Year is a couple of weeks away. We’re all going to make our New Year’s resolutions, one of them being to lose weight. It’s the same every year. We start off dieting all pumped up and ready to go. After a couple of weeks, life gets busy and to the fast food joints we go. So much for the diet.

But if you really look at it, diets don’t work. Even if you accomplish losing that extra 10 lbs, it will find it’s way home and bring their friends with them. The reason diets don’t work? Diets expect you to deny yourself something you enjoy. Whether it be pasta, bread, or sweets, you enjoy these foods, and your sense of pleasure is going to win in the long run.

Another reason diets fail is nutrition. Your body is craving for nutrients. Without these nutrients, your body essentially goes into starvation mode, holding on to everything it can so it does not starve to death. (I know a woman who is considered obese, but has been diagnosed as malnourished). So here you go dieting to lose the weight and your body isn’t letting go of an ounce because it’s not getting what it needs to survive.

So this year at New Year’s, instead of making the resolution to lose weight, why not make one for a lifestyle change with food. If you truly want to lose weight, you need to change the way you see food. Food is not the enemy. The junk and lack of nutrition is the enemy. Instead of paying Mickey D’s to pack on the extra fat tissue around your belly and hips, spend the money to buy healthy organic fruits, veggies and meats. Organic produce and meats have the added nutrition that is stripped when harmful chemicals are used in the growing process. Eat more, not less. Eat 5 to 6 small meals through out the day to raise your metabolism. An apple, orange, or even a handful of trail mix is considered a meal. Let’s not forget the water. Dehydration can be mistaken for hunger.

By following these few hints, you will give your body the nutrition it needs. Then just watch the pounds melt away.

Need help at setting healthy goals for the New You in the New Year, give me a call.

Our bodies are unique systems that intertwine with each other in perfect harmony. Sometimes though, our perfect harmony gets a little off key, maybe because of genetic factors or maybe because of the lifestyle we have chosen.

We are exposed to toxins everyday through numerous sources, environment, food and our lifestyle choices. When we expose ourselves to these toxins, our body normally has it’s own detoxifying system, but what about when we over expose ourselves?

When the body encounters a toxin, it gives us clues as to something being wrong. In the beginning it’s always something simple, such as a runny nose (over production of mucus) or diarrhea. Our body is trying to rid itself of the toxins that have invaded it. We as humans, in all of our medical wisdom, stop our bodies from expelling the toxins by taking over the counter medications for our symptoms. This is the start of the toxin overload.

All this toxic build up leads us to a toxic overload which breaks down and weakens our bodily systems. This toxic overload causes us to overwork every system in our bodies, including the digestive, endocrine, and nervous systems. This in turn leads to any number of illnesses.

What is your body telling you?

Have you ever thought about who is your worse enemy? Who in you life that harms you the most? Who brings you down emotionally more than anyone else? Who gets in your way every time you try to accomplish anything for yourself?

You never thought about that? Maybe you should, and how about looking in the mirror while you think on it.

We sabotage ourselves more than anyone else can ever can. Just think about it.

We have a goal we want to reach. Whether is be finding a new job, losing weight, getting organized or start eating properly. What do we do? We look at the big picture/goal, we get overwhelmed, we procrastinate, we make excuses and then we beat ourselves up over it. Or we start out with such great intentions, have one little set back and then quit because of that setback, thinking we are failures, again beating ourselves up for being a failure.

I want you to look at it in a couple of differnt ways.

Think about a baby. Think about that adorable little creature trying so hard to learn to walk. The baby stands up, the baby falls down, lands flat on the butt with a hard thump. Does that baby stay down? Oh no!!! Back up the baby goes. The baby keeps trying until it can stand without falling. Then it takes it’s first step and wham! Falls down again. The baby stands back up and takes another step, just to fall again. The baby keeps trying until it’s finally walking across the room. No matter how many times the baby falls, it continues to get back up. Now, do you think that baby is beating himself up emotionally because he fell down? No! All he’s thinking is that he’s going to walk.

Next thought. Back to the baby. LOL

When the baby first starts on his journey to learn to walk, do you honestly think he’s looking at the big picture of walking all the way across the room, or running through the house? No! The baby is thinking about just the one step. The goal is to walk everywhere, but he’s concentrating on only the one step. Once he gets the first step, then he’ll concentrate on the next. Soon all the steps will come together for him to reach his ultimate goal.

Let’s continue with the baby theme.

Is the baby making excuses why he can’t walk? Is he thinking I can’t do this because my legs are too fat and wobbly? I can’t take a step because the diaper is in the way? Why should I walk, Mommy carries me everywhere? No! The baby isn’t making any excuses. He’s just doing it. He’s putting action to his desires.

Isn’t it time to stop being your worse enemy? Ready to start living your dreams? Take a lesson from the baby.

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching. There is so much going on in my life at the moment and trying to keep everything in it’s proper place is challenging to say the least.

Just a small idea of what is going on. My mother is very ill, we still have home remodeling going on (now in the kitchen), family coming in for the holidays, and going back to school after 22 years (not quite as bad as I thought it would be).

The reason for my soul searching is because I started feeling guilty. I really have no reason to feel guilty except maybe I did not spend as much time as I could have with my mother before she became ill. The guilty feelings were coming from listening to people that are not as happy as I am, or do not have as much as I do. I’m not sure why I was feeling guilty, because I truly believe we receive back what energy we send out.

So the question is, do I stop listening to people complain about what they do not have or do I stop questioning the universe for blessing me so much?

DUH!!! What a no brainer! I stop questioning the universe and be thankful for the wonderful blessing it has given me. I have the most fantastic family and friends. My husband and I both have our dream jobs, with no worry of the economy or layoff. We have our health, love, laughter, and a life so worth living that it’s from heaven.

Now I’m wondering if these other people are counting their misfortunes instead of counting their blessings?

Counting your blessings leads you to the law of attraction. Once you realize and show gratitude for what you do have, you open yourself to receive more. And who would not want to receive more blessings?

Open your hearts and minds to the universe. Count your blessing both large and small and be grateful in all that you have and all that you are.

Here in the US, we have this wonderful holiday called Thanksgiving. It’s the one day of the year where we celebrate all the things we have to be grateful for. For me the gratitude list seems almost endless. So I’m wondering, why do most of us only show the gratitude once a year?

It has been proven that showing gratitude lowers stress levels. As we all know, stress leaves us open to other illness moving in and taking over. So why not show gratitude everyday of the year, if for no other reason than to lower our stress levels?

Maybe it’s because we don’t know how to show gratitude? Maybe it’s because we feel so little to feel grateful about? Or maybe it’s because we do not see what we have to be grateful for?

No matter who you are or what you do, you have something in your life to be grateful for.

Having a hard time finding something to be grateful for? Then I’m going to put a challenge out to you. Start a gratitude journal. No matter what, or how bad Murphy’s Law has attacked you during the day, write at least one thing in your journal that you are grateful for, even if it’s something as simple as “I made it home from work today without a fender bender.” or “I’m grateful that my coffee was hot this morning.” Just write something everyday.

Before long you will start to see more that you have to be grateful for, and before you realize it your life is a life of gratitude for all the wonderful things you have been blessed with.

Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!!!

It seems like the flu is running rampant this season. Needless to say it hasn’t skipped our household either, so I thought I would write today’s post on ways to take care of yourself and family should the flu decide to make a visit to your home.

The first two suggestions are no brainers, drink plenty of fluids and get lots of rest. The reason for these are simple.

Our bodies heal while we are resting. Plenty of rest just means, stop, let your body do it’s job to take care of itself fighting the virus, without having to multi-task.

When we are sick, especially with the flu, it’s easy to become dehydrated. Since most of us are already dehydrated to a degree, this will certainly put us into the severely dehydrated category. You want to drink lots of clear liquids. When I say clear liquids that doesn’t mean liquid you can see through. That means fluids that do not have caffeine or heavy sugars. Stick with water, herbal teas, kool-aid, or Gatorade type drinks. I drank loads of green tea (great antioxidant) with honey to keep me hydrated while flushing toxins from my body.

This week while we were fighting the flu we added a couple of other steps to this.

I dosed myself with garlic. Garlic is antibiotic, antiviral, antimicrobiotic, so it actually helps fight the viral flu bug. I know some people who will eat the whole clove of garlic or take a spoonful of minced garlic. I’m not one of those. I buy the garlic oil capsules and took 2 capsules 3 times a day. Not hard or gross.

I also had a diffuser burning with the essential oil blend of Eucalyptus and Rosemary. The Eucalyptus was to help keep sinus passages clear so breathing was a little easier. The Rosemary to disinfect the air to keep the virus from spreading. You only need a couple of drops of each in a base oil (such as veggie oil) in a tea light oil burner will do the trick.

Hopefully you won’t get the flu this season, but if you do, I hope these tips help you to be a little more comfortable.

Have a Wondernous day!
